Creation vs Evolution ♦ Fossils

Millions of years?

How were the fossils formed and how long does it take to create a fossil? Apparently, the evolutionist view of millions of years seems good enough to explain the formation of sedimentary layers and the fossils contained in them. But is this view really supported by the fossil record? Well, not really.

First of all, in order to have a fossil, a rapid burial is required. Otherwise, natural decaying processes would destroy the organisms without getting the chance of becoming a fossil. For example, it is known that dead octopuses will quickly liquefy into a slimy blob and vanish completely in just a few days. So, if the fossilization would be a long term process, it would be impossible to have octopus fossils. Still, we do have fossils of octopuses, like those five well preserved octopus imprints found in Lebanon.

The fossil record contains an incredible number of very well preserved fossils. These high quality details imply a very short time of formation because otherwise it is impossible to explain how the details were preserved like that without being destroyed.

Fossilized leaves are a strong argument for rapid burial. It is known that when a leaf dies, it becomes shriveled and crumbles. But the fossil record contains a large number of fossilized leaves, with a very well preserved state, flatten and displaying a lot of the details. In order for this to happen, the leaves have to be ripped off from the trees while they are still alive, then kept in water long enough, to allow the water to get inside cells and flatten the leaves. Then the leaves must be buried quickly in sediments, before the water gets out of the plant.

Another evidence for rapid burial is found in fossils that show animals caught in the middle of doing something. For example, a fish was fossilized during its meal, eating another smaller fish. Then, two Ichthyosaurus were fossilized while giving birth! And the list of examples could continue. These are incredible “photos” of a catastrophic event that occurred in the past, which has caught the animals in various circumstances and killed them before they could have escaped.

Also, is it possible for soft tissue to resist over millions of years? The answer is very simple: “No”. But still, more and more fossils with soft tissue are uncovered, leaving the evolutionists in a difficult situation. Proteins like keratin and collagen were confirmed in some fossils. Blood was discovered in a fossilized mosquito and also in dinosaur bones. Even fresh dinosaur bones (not permineralized) were found in Alaska.

So, the fossil record is best explained by the Flood that covered the entire Earth a few thousand years ago. That cataclysm could have created the necessary conditions for the formation of most of the fossils found today. There were also other catastrophic events after the Flood that have produced some fossils, but most of them come from the Flood.

Take your time and read the following articles because they will explain in more detail all the aspects mentioned above. You need more faith to believe the evolutionist view of the fossil record, than to accept the evidence of the creationist view.

Research Topics:

It is the most common explanation for the origin of our Universe. But is it “science” or “science fiction”?

Fossils are like “photos” of a lost world. They can “speak” without words, but with strong evidence. Is it really for Evolution?

Our origins define not only our past, but also our present and our future. What do we have in common with apes? Do we have a common ancestor, or a common creator?

Biology and Chemistry have provided a lot of incredible findings in the past decades. Instead of supporting evolution, they prove an intelligent designer.

Since it was discovered in 1869, DNA has fascinated the scientific world and proves to be the best information storage system. There is no naturalistic mechanism to explain its existence.

Rock layers cover vast regions and form the Earth’s crust. While secular scientists are very confident that they were deposited during long geologic ages, a lot of evidence has been brought to support the contrary.

Math is defined as the science and study of quality, structure and space. It is one of the most powerful tools used in different domains, and it is proof of an intelligent designer!
