The Word of God ♦ Jesus resurrection

A lot of witnesses

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is denied by many today not because it did not happen, but because it is hard for them to accept it. For many people, the resurrection is a myth that was invented by early christians in order to support their teachings.

But despite the willingness of someone to accept or reject the resurrection of Jesus Christ, there are many witnesses that confess about it. Any fair trial would first consider the evidence and hear the witnesses, and only after that it would decide the sentence.

The disciples of Jesus witness the resurrection. They were so convinced that Jesus rose from the dead, that their entire life has changed. But they were not the only witnesses. Many others that lived in Israel in the first century had the opportunity to see Jesus alive after his death. The majority of modern scholars agree that Paul’s writings about the resurrection indicate that during the years after 30 AD there were already well known traditions spread about this topic.

James, one of the brothers of Jesus, was very skeptical about Jesus before the crucifixion. But after the resurrection, Jesus appeared alive to James and James' life was changed completely and soon became one of the early church leaders.

But not only the disciples saw the risen Jesus. Many of Jesus' followers had the opportunity to see him physically alive. Sometimes Jesus appeared to small groups or single persons, but other times he showed up to larger groups, like the one mentioned by Apostle Paul, when 500 people were together and saw Jesus alive.

So, when thinking about the resurrection of Jesus, there are so many testimonies of people who actually saw him alive, that it is very hard to reject it only because it seems impossible.
