The historicity of Jesus

Only a few of the modern scholars still dare today to deny the historicity of Jesus. There are so many historical records about him that even those who are totally against christianity, accept the fact that Jesus was a real person that lived 2000 years ago.

Cornelius Tacitus (55 - 120 A.D.) confirms that Christ was the founder of christianity and was punished to death by Pontius Pilate during the reign of Tiberius Caesar. Also, a Greek comedian that lived in the last half of the second century, speaks about christians and confirms that they worship their leader who was crucified for his teachings. Suetonius (69 - 122 A.D.) wrote about the christians in Rome and mentioned Christ.

Josephus Flavius (37 - 100 A.D.) wrote about Jesus, mentioning that he performed miracles and his teachings had a great impact on many people. Josephus wrote also about the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus.

Other mentions about Jesus are found in the writings of Plinius the Young (61 - 113 A.D.), Iulius Africanus (quoting Thallus and Phlegon around 221 A.D.) and others. If we also add the writings of the christians that lived in the first centuries after Jesus, then the list of records that mention Jesus is much bigger.

There is no way to contradict the historical evidence of the fact that christianity has its origins in Jesus Christ, who was a real person that lived in Israel. Jesus was crucified by Pontius Pilate during Tiberius Caesar rule and rose again the third day. Since then, christians follow his teachings and believe in him as the only way of salvation.

Although many scholars have tried to criticize the text of the Bible, it still remains the most accurate and reliable from all other ancient writings.

Archaeology has proved the accuracy of the biblical historical records, and continues to prove it as new discoveries come to light.

The fulfillment of biblical prophecies prove the divine inspiration of the Bible, and give us confidence in the fulfillment of the prophecies that still wait to happen on the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ!

While all other religious writings have their own famous characters, only the Bible has the resurrection of Jesus as the most powerful evidence of trust.

The Bible is one of the many so-called Holy Books. But when carefully examined, it is by far superior and unique. There is no other writing that could compare with it!
