Bible Reliability
While all other religious writings claim to be reliable, the Bible is the only book that really fulfills this goal. Although more than 40 authors contributed to the writing of the Bible during about 1500 years, the text proves to be reliable not only in the teachings it has, but also in the historical record that it provides.
Over time, many scholars tried to discredit the validity of the Bible, by emphasizing different nations, people and places that were mentioned only in the Bible, without any other historical records. But the new discoveries proved that biblical records were accurate and reliable.
Another argument used to undermine the Bible's reliability is that we don’t have the original writings of the authors. This is a good reason only for someone who is not aware of the existing manuscripts or has a high level of ignorance regarding them. If you consider the number of manuscripts and the time between the originals and the earliest manuscripts, then you have no reason to doubt their accuracy.
It is now proved that the people that were involved in copying bible manuscripts were so careful in what they were writing that the text was very well preserved. The discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls is only one example of the accuracy of the Old Testament text. Also, Jesus Christ considered as valid the copies of the Old Testament used in that time. As for the New Testament manuscripts, some of the earliest available today are less than 100 years since they were written.
In terms of text reliability, the difference between the Bible and all other ancient writings is so big, that if someone denies the validity of the Bible, then he can no longer consider any other ancient writing as valid.
Until today, history has recorded an incredible number of people that were ready to suffer and die for the teachings of the Bible. They were so convinced of the reliability of the text, that they were not afraid to lose possessions, legal rights and even their lives to stand for it.
