What the Bible says ♦ Past and future

The future of the World

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” (Genesis 1:1, NIV) This is how the story of the Earth started. God created a very beautiful world, and created man “in his image”. Then, God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. But soon after this, Adam brought his life and the life of all his descendants in the greatest disaster called: sin.

Because God loved humans, he planned a salvation that can rescue people from the eternal death they deserve. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world and was born to live a perfect life and then he died as a sacrifice for the sins of the world. He rose from the dead, the third day, and after that he went back to heaven, leaving his disciples to go to the world and spread the good news of salvation.

But that was not the end. Since that time, people around the world are saved from their sins by believing in Jesus Christ. The Bible says the days of the world are limited and at the end of times, Jesus Christ will come again. “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.” (Matthew 24:30, NIV)

In his second coming, Jesus Christ will not come as a baby born in a manger, but instead he will come as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. All the people in the history who trusted in Jesus will rise from the dead and also all the people that trust in Jesus and are living by that time will be taken away to be with Jesus.

The Bible says that in the second coming, Jesus will defeat the Antichrist, a person that will rule the Earth with the power of the devil. The Antichrist will be thrown into hell, and Satan will be bound for a thousand years, and the nations will not be deceived by him until that time is ended. Then he will be released and he will deceive the entire Earth to come and fight against Jesus and his saints in Jerusalem. But God will send a fire from heaven which will kill them.

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:11-15, NIV)

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:1-4, NIV)

The signs of the second coming of Jesus Christ, as they are written in the Bible, are fulfilling more and more. It is clear for all christians that we are living very very close to these events. So, believing in Jesus and repenting from sins, are the most important things for every person!
