Missing links and “explosions”

In the evolutionist model, the fossils and the sedimentary layers where they were found, are a representation of the time when they have lived and also, a representation of the evolution from simpler organisms to more complex organisms. This means that the fossil record should display the transitions between different stages in the evolution process, with clear evidence of the intermediate steps that were followed from an initial ancestor to the individuals that evolved from it.

Now, this evolution assumption is a very big problem for evolutionists, because, generally speaking, the fossil record does not display evidence for the transitions between species. There are only a few so-called “transition fossils”, but those are also disputed because of the ambiguity that surrounds them.

Evolutionists themselves have acknowledged the gaps between species in the fossil record, but their best argument is that the fossil record is not yet complete and most probably, the missing links will be unveiled by future discoveries. But, by reading the related articles you will find written testimonies of well known evolutionists and paleontologists that accept that when a new species appears, it appears at once and fully formed.

What is even more interesting is that the majority of the plants and animals that live today, were found in the fossil record as they are today.

Instead of offering intermediate organisms between species, the fossil record reveals sudden apparitions of a large number of new organisms, so-called “explosions”. One of the most representative examples is “Cambrian Explosion”, when about 40 major animal groups appeared. This Cambrian layer, which sits at the bottom of the fossil record, has an abundant number of fossils, so their ancestors should have been found in the lower strata, called Precambrian. Most of the Cambrian fossils are invertebrates, but also there are a few vertebrate fossils. After an intensive research, when finally Precambrian fossils were discovered underneath Cambrian layers, they were much different from those found in Cambrian layers with no evidence of transitions. Also, Precambrian fossil collection is by far much less consistent than Cambrian collection.

These “explosions” of new species are a really big issue for Evolution. Instead of discovering a lot of intermediate organisms, completely new forms of life appear with no indication of transitions between them and those found in lower strata. Evolution has a big problem with this. Even though many paleontologists have tried to explain explosions of new life forms, until now there is no real argument that could really prove how these creatures could have evolved suddenly and why there is no ancestor found for them.

Despite the lack of evolution evidence in the fossil record, evolutionists still continue to advertise that evolution is a proven fact. But for creationists, the evidence in the fossil record is exactly what they would expect. All kinds of plants and animals were created by God and we find their fossils in different sedimentary layers because the Flood has buried them in that order. There are no “ancestor species” because all were created by the same God. It is true that many species share common traits but that does not mean they have evolved from a common ancestor. The Creator made them like that.
